Blog Post | FREE VPS Trial - 5 spots (please re-tweet!)
Posted: Thu Apr 22, 2010 10:00 am

Despite a hugely frustrating and lengthy delay, we are finally in a position to publicly trial our OpenVZ solution and are on the hunt for 5 volunteers to help put our VPS platform through its paces.  Each volunteer will be assigned a VPS of the specification below to allow us to gather some feedback.

Proposed specification:

CPU: Access to 4 of 8 CPU cores on a Core i7 based server
RAM: Guaranteed & dedicated access to 512MB DDR3 RAM
HDD: 15GB of Resilient SATA2 storage
B/W: 500GB transfer allowance on 100Mbit uplink

We are hoping to run the internal trials for between 2-4 weeks and if all goes successfully then at the end of this period we will launch the service to the public.  At this stage, the volunteers will be able to continue to rent the service at the prices we will publish later or hand back their VPS.

Remember, there are only 5 spots so do not delay your FREE VPS order!

Many Thanks, Jon

Manchester Rack 9 Switch Faulty
Posted: Mon Mar 29, 2010 7:25 pm

As per the email sent out to clients earlier this evening, we are experiencing a loss of service in our newly setup rack in Manchester due to a faulty switch.

Thankfully this switch only has a handful of servers connected at present and as I post this article, these servers are in the process of being re-cabled to our switch in the adjacent rack.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any disruption caused.

Update @ 19:45 GMT: The re-cabling has been completed and as such, service to the handful of affected servers has been restored.

Blog Post | LINX Network Issues
Posted: Wed Mar 17, 2010 4:48 pm

We have been made aware by our upstream that LINX (UK's largest peering point) is currently suffering from some pretty severe network issues at the moment (it’s just shed about 250Gbps of traffic!).

Unfortunately this problem is completely out of our control and will be affecting most ISP's as traffic that would normally flow through LINX for optimal routing and latency may now be going through less preferential backup routes.

You can keep a track of LINX's problems via the graph available here: https://www.linx.net/pubtools/trafficstats.html
