cPanel overnight update issues with MariaDB v10.3.26

Posted in Industry News by Jon on 05/11/2020 @ 08:05

As of 04/11/2020 There seems to be an issue with the latest version of MariaDB packaged with cPanel that has been knocking some websites offline.

In short, if your cPanel server is running MariaDB v10.3.26 and you have lost service to some of your websites overnight (following a cPanel update) then you will likely want to temporarily, manually, roll back your MariaDB version as follows:

Firstly downgrade to v10.2.35: yum downgrade MariaDB-server MariaDB-common MariaDB-shared MariaDB-client MariaDB-compat MariaDB-devel

Then prevent an automatic upgrade back: yum install -y yum-plugin-versionlock && yum versionlock MariaDB-* && yum versionlock list

You will now need to manually monitor for the release of MariaDB v10.3.27 seeing as your server will no longer auto update MariaDB.

Finally, once v10.3.27 is available, remove the version lock by running: yum versionlock clear
